Mare
Kaiya

Kaiya is a tall, steady young mare who is being produced with time, mileage, and clarity — not shortcuts. Approximately 16.2hh, rising 5-year-old Clydesdale x Standardbred mare, Kaiya combines substance with a willing, forward-thinking nature. She has been under saddle since December and is progressing through her early foundation exactly as intended — quietly, correctly, and without pressure. Development & Foundation Kaiya is currently being brought on through real-world mileage rather than arena drilling. She has: Been ridden consistently around the farm Developed confidence in open spaces Travells well on the float without fuss Our goal is to complete 250 kilometres of correct, steady riding before she is formally offered for sale. This milestone is expected around May. At Oxford Ponies & Sport Horses, we prioritise rhythm, clarity, and appropriate exposure. Kaiya is being given time to strengthen physically and mentally so that when she leaves, she leaves prepared. Suitability Kaiya will suit someone wanting: A tall, quality young horse to continue developing A horse for hacking and covering kilometres A calm, capable ride beyond the arena She is not yet suitable for a novice rider, as she is still early in her education and requires a rider who understands young horses and continuing foundation work. She will thrive in a home that values consistency, exposure, and correct development over speed. Management Kaiya is kind in nature and straightforward to handle. She is a young mare still developing strength and balance, but she presents as sensible and willing under saddle. She enjoys getting out and covering ground and is shaping into a practical, athletic horse. There is no rush in her work. It takes the time it takes — and she is progressing steadily. Barefoot and strong in varied terrain Must have paddock company Good on Grass Ongoing Support We are committed to careful matching. Guidance and support are available to the right buyer to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress.

Mare
Red Rose

Rose is a 7-year-old, 15.2hh Clydesdale x Standardbred mare with a naturally quiet, “more whoa than go” way of going. She has a very typical Clydie brain — steady, thoughtful, and not easily rattled — making her an enjoyable ride for someone who values a calm, uncomplicated horse. Development & Foundation Rose was started under saddle in December, then given time to process and mature, and has since come back into work and is progressing well. Rose has been ridden out in small groups and alone, where she is happy and settled. She has not yet been exposed to large group rides, so this is still to come as part of her ongoing education. On the ground, she is straightforward and easy to manage. She floats well, stands for the farrier, and is generally low-maintenance in her handling. In the paddock, she can be a little harder to catch in a herd setting, but she is responsive — once you get her attention (a click and her name), she will face up and allow herself to be haltered. Suitability Rose would suit a rider looking for a kind, steady partner to develop further — someone who values temperament and is happy to continue her education, particularly with larger group exposure over time. A calm, capable ride beyond the arena She is not yet suitable for a novice rider, as she is still early in her education and requires a rider who understands young horses and continuing foundation work. She will thrive in a home that values consistency, exposure, and correct development over speed. Management Under saddle, Rose offers a relaxed, unhurried ride. She is best suited to someone who appreciates a quieter horse and is happy to continue her mileage and exposure at a steady pace while she builds confidence in new environments. Must have paddock company Does well on grass. Ongoing Support We are committed to careful matching. Guidance and support are available to the right buyer to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress.

Mare
Cute as a Button

Buttons is the sort of young mare that quietly gets on with the job without making life complicated. Sensible, easy going, and well-mannered, she has a lovely grounded nature that makes her an enjoyable horse to have around. At 14.1hh, Buttons is a 5-year-old Clydesdale x Standardbred mare who has been backed and started under saddle with a calm, straightforward attitude. She has been around general farm life, dogs, and the usual day-to-day activity, and takes it all in stride.  Can be a little looky when out by herself, but is getting better with practice and isn't over reactive. She would suit someone looking for a sensible young horse to continue on with for trekking, farm riding, or simply as a reliable all-rounder to enjoy and build a partnership with. She has the quieter, more relaxed nature many people look for in a riding horse and is proving to be uncomplicated to handle and work with. If you’re looking for a kind young mare with a good brain and a solid foundation to continue on with, feel free to get in touch.

Ancova Sargent HA (name pending)

Sarge is a 6-year-old purebred Haflinger gelding (Sire Southern Spirit), 14.2hh and barefoot, being sold on behalf of his owner. He is the half-brother to Gus, (also listed) but the greener of the two — and a very different personality. Sarge is a strong-willed, thinking horse who is always trying to find the right answer. He has a genuine work ethic and, once he understands something, he will offer it again and again — he enjoys getting it right and showing you that he knows. He’s the type that builds a real partnership with his person and thrives on attention and connection. Under saddle, Sarge is forward, steady, and not spooky, with no buck, bolt, or rear. While he is technically green, he doesn’t present as unpredictable — but he does require clear boundaries and consistency to bring out his best. He has done plenty of solo trekking, where he is confident and relaxed, and has also been on group rides with one clear consideration: he does not like horses riding up close behind him and will kick out if crowded. Managed simply by riding him at the back of the group, he settles well. The beach is a highlight for Sarge. He will walk straight into the water, is comfortable in the waves, and has a lovely, steady canter down the beach, with the ability to come back to a relaxed walk and then go forward again when asked. Sarge is excellent over obstacles, confidently handling varied terrain and happily popping over logs with a neat, tidy jump. He would make a fantastic trick or versatility pony, as he enjoys learning and engaging with his work. Suitability Sarge is best suited to a competent, experienced rider who enjoys working with a thinking horse and is willing to continue his education. In the right hands, he will be an incredibly rewarding partner with a lot to offer. He is not suited to: Beginners Nervous or inconsistent riders Homes without paddock company Long term, he will thrive as a versatile pleasure and trekking horse with a rider who values a willing partner. Management Barefoot and strong in varied terrain Native breed — requires diet management Must have paddock company Will do best in a herd-based or track-style system He can be sold with his fitted saddle for ease of transition. Ongoing Support Sarge does have a couple of quirks that require experienced handling: He needs patience and consistency when tied He will stomp his front foot to get attention (his way of saying “come get me, let’s go”) He can offer the same behaviour when floating, particularly when the float stops These behaviours have already improved significantly with consistent handling. The key is not rewarding the behaviour, and waiting for the correct response before releasing or engaging with him. He is a horse that learns patterns quickly — which is a strength when handled well, but requires someone disciplined and consistent to continue reinforcing the right answers.

Milford Sound

Available through Driftwood Sport Horses Ltd Fernside, Canterbury. Milford Sound - Sharky🦈 Approximately 15.3hh, 2017 tb gelding by Ocean Park. Sharky already has a few buttons there when it comes to his flatwork, he does need a lot of leg to get him into the bridle as would rather just toddle along if he has his way. Happily pops a wee jump although still a bit green in that area. Has been for a wee solo hack down the road with no dramas. Looked as a couple of things but then happily moved on. Lovely quiet type and easy to do anything with, suit a confident teen or adult rider wanting a dressage horse, a hack or possibly an eventer with schooling. Currently barefoot. Video on request.
