Barry's Fake ID “Barry/Baz” 16.1hh, rising 8yo standardbred gelding by American Ideal. (Raced as 'Beauty Barry')
Baz is a much loved member of our family and he is only coming up for sale due to me being overcommitted at work and having to many horses. His other rider is unfortunately out with injury for at least a year, and sadly he is wasted sitting in the paddock.
He is super honest and will give anything a go, has an amazing showy trot, although does still pace when he's nervous or doesn't understand what your asking. Has jumped up to 80cm around home and at training, has competed to 65cm, fairly point and shoot, from any spot, as long as rider is confident. I got Barry off the track in 2022 from a Trainer I had previously worked for.
He has an amazing jump for a standy and has the basics of lovely flatwork. With more work he would be an awesome show horse. The basics are there, they just need polished now.
He is great to do most things with, at home or at a show it makes no difference. He's great to Float, angle or straight load. Has trucked, travels well once loaded, however he can be difficult to load on the truck (could be fine with another truck, my ramp is quite steep) he's good to worm, clip, shoe etc. Is currently barefoot and has been since August 2023 with no issues. He can however be a bit niggly to catch if he's feeling well. Nothing nasty. Just the cheeky catch me if you can...
Baz has been a real good sort whilst ridden. Happy bareback, and has also been ridden by my mum who "is too old for riding horses" and also my 12 year old sister, for reserve champion standardbred at a low level show with no issues. Has a current Standardbred passport, and also a height certificate, however it is no longer current.
He loves going for a hack out and is a great horse to be around (no buck, rear, bolt etc.).
Baz is a big horse and he does require a competent rider as he is forward moving, and is still a green ex pacer, and is a ride with a lot of power. Currently in light work, but he's a consistent type in work, or bought back in after 6 months off.
This will be a very sad sale for us and he will only go to a 5* plus home. Would prefer buyer seeing him and having a ride first, or be able to provide references if purchasing sight unseen.
