Jasper would love a little human of his own to dote on him, ride him, love him.
Jasper was used as my granddaughter's second pony after moving off a mini but Bailee has outgrown Jasper long ago. Jasper is a great on the lead pony. He may be suitable as a second pony for a more experienced rider off-lead, if the lead comes off he is rather lazy and not keen to move. Jasper is your typical little Welshie, is well behaved 95% of the time and does not put a hoof wrong but there is the 5% that he may 1 in every 50 rides throw a little buck in. Not a mean rodeo buck, just kick out a bit mostly as he is having fun.
Jasper loves getting out & about. We have taken him to pony clubs, lessons, forest, tracking, ribbon days, beach etc. You can lead (pony) Jasper off your horse. Jasper cleans up well, is a real little looker, would love to do showing but also LOVES jumping! Jasper loves collecting ribbons on his proud little neck! Jasper ties up well to the float, walks straight into the float (step up, ramp, truck etc).
Jasper is good to be clipped, brushed, plaited, fussed over, washed, farrier etc. Jasper does not kick, bite, rear. Jasper has thrown the odd little buck in as mentioned BUT that is only when he is out of work and feeling a bit fresh or excited. It is not nasty! I am for full disclosure! and will not lie to make a sale.
Jasper does not kick out or try to bite other horses – very well behaved in the line-up’s. I have kept Jasper on as a babysitter for a few years but the little guy deserves a little human of his own. He has spent weeks in the stable next to our other injured stabled horses...Jasper loved the attention and extra food. He babysat my weaned foal even though she towered over him.
Now is the time to add - Jasper has never needed the vet! Jasper has never been sick! Jasper has never been lame! Jasper has never foundered / gotten laminitis. He is chunky, needs weight management. He is a bit fat & out of work currently.
Will be sold with his Bates GP saddle and bridle. Bridle has stability reins although Jasper does not try to eat when being ridden. The Bates saddle has a little 'nick' in it. He will also go with his snuggyhoods body rug. Jasper is currently not covered.
Jasper lunges, long-reins. We had a cart on Jasper but did not progress with cart training - will not take much to get him going with it as he accepted the gear and cart well. Jasper LOVES jumping but my granddaughter is not gutsy enough. He is brave and we take him over ditches, water etc. Jasper is good on the road - we have ridden him past trucks, diggers, buses that hoot at him etc. Jasper does not spook and is not reactive. Jasper would be fine as an equitation pony and he is good with cowboy challenge stuff as I get him to stand up on platforms, up stairs, through narrow areas, back out through gateways etc. Ok with 'spooky' things, standing on tarps etc.
Can come and trial Jasper and ride him as many times as you like at our property or even take him out and about to an event or lesson but no off-site leases (I learnt my lesson long ago - my horse was stolen). Vetting welcome. Teeth up to date (Nov '23). Hooves trimmed every 5 weeks. Up to date with drenching (he does not like that too much).
Um...what else? I know there is probably something I did not mention but please ask away. I am totally transparent with this little guy - he is gorgeous but needs a job and needs an experienced home (meaning someone who has owned fatty ponies before or willing to learn about weight management).
I used to ride my mare and lead Jasper around with my granddaughter riding. Photos are to show his character :-) Jasper is in Kumeu, Auckland. We are close to Woodhill Sands.
