4vr old purebred Nati from TikiTiki
Sultan (Sully) is a 15.3hh colt (can be gelded here) who was under saddle for a good 6 months last year before having another 6 months off. He always went kindly and was no fuss. He hasn't had any formal schooling on the flat as he was just used for plenty of hacking.
He has been on roads, down beaches (swimming too) and spent a night in the bush hunting.
Sultan has always been a very friendly horse and easy to catch. Never had trouble drenching or shoeing him and been well behaved with fencing.
He also ties up road side or wherever you feel like leaving him!
Sully has been out of work since mid last year. So will need someone experienced to get him going again but am expecting him to be his usual no fuss self to bring back into work. Please note he has not been gelded yet hence the price!
Wanting to sell as is, where is out of the paddock as I don't currently have the facilities to bring him into work and am also injured at the moment.
I didn't intend to make this decision as he's been so easy to have around but realistically I don't think I'll ever do what I planned with him!
Scar was from a very minor injury just unfortunately healed real ugly! Never been unsound on it but won’t make a show horse with it! Sadly cannot find a ridden video of him but will have a quick ride or two before he goes. Don’t have time currently to do this and get videos ect
Located on the Mahia Peninsula but will get to Hastings for collection or potentially get to Gisborne or Taupo .
BUGSY
12.3hh gizzy bred pony with gypsy blood.
10/11 years old (I'll confirm soon but no older)
Bugsy is one of those special one in a million ponies... for the right person that is!
He will go anywhere, do anything as long as you also give 100% otherwise he will make the choices for you. He would be an amazing farm bush basher, beach pony, confident competitive pony ect.
Don't be fooled by his size. He thinks he identifies as a horse and won't approve of being told otherwise. He keeps up with the tall ones easily enough and fits in full size pony strides when jumping..
He prefers adults and teens, or a balanced assertive rider otherwise he will decide he is the boss and fluffs around.
He's a bit like those "old school" shithead types that parents threw their kids on and if you don't ride properly they are entertaining and the kid has to learn to ride or not ride at all... worth their weight in gold for lesson teaching but not so popular these days with people more wanting push button.. lol!
Bugsy has dabbled in everything from PC, to low level shows and dressage days. He is amazing to hack out alone and in company . He was purchased for a riding school but his movement was too powerful for the learners. He went away for schooling and was schooling 80cm and has free jumped to 1.10 but this hasn't been pushed further despite him wanting to try...
Bugsy is in full work and has started games training with a girl who raves about how easy he is but he is just a smidgen too small for her height!
He was on lease too for a year with a young girl who absolutely loved him and he enjoyed being dotted over and hooning around.
He will NOT be sold as a first ridden, to a learner who hasn't cantered or to someone who hasn't owned horses before. He is smart and knows if someone can keep him in like or not pretty fast..
He is forward, powerful and athletic. He will go VERY far in the right hands in any discipline (esspecially anything thay includes zooming).
Viewing currently south of chch but can be brought north if serious interest.
Comes with his wardrobe of rugs and bridle.
Rumble (Vindicator) is a lovely type who I could see in the show ring in the right hands, or as an eventer. Perfect candidate for Beyond the Barriers too.
Rumble is on the forward side and is quite a clever lad. He does require a competent rider as he will try it on and have a wee nap if allowed. But a good reminder that he’s part of a team and not the boss and he gets on with the job at hand.
I see him excelling in any discipline in the right hands. He has a big expressive movement and a good jump on him from what we have seen, although still very green in that area.
Not suitable for an inexperienced rider or a nervous rider.
Not suitable as a first hack or a returning to riding hack. He is a powerhouse of a horse and will need the rider to compliment his ability.
Pablo “El Mariachi” (raced as Pax Vobiscum) 11yo, 16.3hh (170.5cm) BIG gelding by Mettre En Jeu.
Pabs has been my dear friend for several years and this is a very hard ad to write. I bought him four years ago, unstarted off the track, and we’ve had a GREAT time doing a bit of everything. Unfortunately, motherhood has taken over and he needs more consistency than I can offer. Thrives on a few good rides a week but isn't hard to bring back into work.
He is so easy to have around and a seriously fun horse to ride. I’ve spent a lot of time on his flatwork and he scores very well in dressage. His paces are lovely, and his canter is exceptional. Balanced, uphill, and adjustable. Has schooled all basic laterals (shoulder in, leg yield etc) and has super transitions.
Pablo has evented successfully to 80cm and has had a 95cm start. Previously schooled 1* fences but currently in low/moderate work. Has show hunter outings, with a correct jump and beautiful rhythm and show jumped to 1m (also TIES classes with some larger fences). Dressage (unreg) to L2 and 1*/2* tests at training days. Has not hunted but think he has the brain for it.
I rode Pablo through most of my pregnancy (dismounting was tricky due to his size). He can be a bit spooky with ding-dong moments, but I find him straightforward to ride through. He will not suit a rider lacking confidence. He’s generally good at competitions, but the bigger atmospheres can be exciting (particularly loudspeakers); smaller shows he snoozes ringside. Perfect for confident adult wanting to do a bit of everything with a best friend.
Hacks out great in company and reasonably well solo. He’s done a lot of roadwork due to no arena at home. Kids have been ponied off him and he was great. Travels GREAT, self-loads, great for farrier/vet/clip. Great on the ground and is an absolute smooch.
Located West Melton. Will happily take to local PC grounds for viewings.
Lots of video on YouTube from throughout his career.

Prince is a fun chap who is more woah than go and has a heap to offer someone after a best friend and fun all rounder.
He has the basics in place and is ready to get out and about in whatever discipline you choose. He's a good solid type, currently barefoot and coping fine this way. He goes kindly on the flat, been nice and uncomplicated to jump and really enjoys getting out for hacks.
Heaps more pics, info and videos can be found on the Jess Land Equestrian FB page in his album under the photo section of the page.
Finn finished on the racetrack May 2024 and since then has just been hanging out at his trainers place until arriving here a couple of weeks ago.
Finn is a cuddly cheeky boy and easy to have around. He is a tad on the lazy side in his work from what we have seen so far. Being that he did spend a decent time on the track we aren’t looking for a full on competitive home for him as I think he deserves the opportunity to enjoy the slower side of life. So yes to low level stuff if you wanted but not out chasing ribbons every weekend.
He is still green to life post racing so will need a competent rider who is willing to hold his hand while he gets the hang of his new life.
Available through Driftwood Sport Horses Ltd, Fernside Canterbury.
Quick Story “Shirley” approx 15.3hh 2019 tb mare. We think she would love to find a happy hacker home or maybe a broodmare. In saying that someone could spend the time and turn her into a nice wee sporthorse with some schooling (none on board currently).
She has been out farm hacking on a station since coming off the track and was easy to ride, but her owner is overcommitted with work and life so Shirley needs a new home. 🏠 Since being here she has had a few rides showing no dirt, no quirks or anything that might cause concern.
With my paddocks full and more due to come in we are offering her to an appropriate home at a very low price of $250
Greystone Himself “Paddy” 6yo Full Irish Draught gelding (IMP) DOB: 28/05/2019 Approx. 16.2hh By “Fintan Himself” Paddy is a quality, low mileage Irish Draught with all the attributes to develop into a very smart hunter. A correct, traditional type with substance, presence, & a kind outlook under saddle. He has been out to the forest and is sensible in new environments. Recently started over fences and showing a genuine, uncomplicated jump.. honest & willing. His canter is still developing but improving each ride. With further mileage, he would suit a hunting or show hunter career, or be a quality all rounder for someone wanting to produce a young horse correctly. Still green and requires a competent rider to continue his education. On the ground he can be a little pushy at times, so benefits from confident, consistent handling to reinforce his manners.. nothing nasty, just a young horse who knows his strength. A lovely prospect for someone wanting a blank canvas Irish Draught with quality breeding and plenty of upside.
Tiger has been here for a couple of weeks now and has impressed us every step. Since arriving he has started his basic flatwork (his weakest point currently), had a look at his first jump and hacked out. Happy out in front or slotting in behind, good in traffic, good to float, no vices, he’s just a lovely horse to work with.
He does have a small boney lump on the right side of his jaw, this has been checked by the vet and deemed nothing to be concerned about and doesn’t interfere with bridle placement.
Tiger is a sweet boy who has no conflict with anyone so would like a home where he’ll be well cared for and loved and who will bring the same chill vibe as he does.
Obviously although quiet he is a big guy who is still learning things so not suitable for a beginner rider.
