Birch Hill Bindi, aka Stormy, seeks 5* home and new best friend.
134cm (current height certificate). Talented, honest showjumper. Has the elegance and movement to do well in dressage; can hold her own in the B Pony ring. Suitable 2nd or 3rd pony for a kind, confident rider. Always comes home with ribbons! Schooling up to 85 cm, showing/winning up to 60cm and very ready for 70cm. Very sad sale, but rider truly outgrown. We've had Stormy 2 years; she was very low-mileage before we bought her. If I could add 13 cm to her height, we'd never sell her. She is a pleasure to own in all ways.
My daughter was a bit nervous about jumping when we bought Stormy and thus we focused on dressage and showing at first. But then they started on the showjumping and Stormy quickly showed us how talented she is and how much she loves jumping. They now fly around 50-60 cm courses together, and if they don't win a class they sure give the winner a run for their money! Stormy's thus been an excellent confidence-builder.
Showing wins include Champion Novice B Pony at NZRPS Horse & Pony Show 2023, plus a Reserve Champion in a show just before we bought her, and a Reserve Champion Green Pony with us. Two wins in only dressage show, Level 0.
Heaps of showjumping ribbons include:
Three 1sts & a 2nd: 45-60cm, Dunstan Rangiora Nov 2023
Three 1sts & a 4th: 50-60cm, Dunstan Amberley Nov 2023
1st and 2nd: 60 cm, Dunstan Rangiora Feb 2023
1st and 2nd: 50 cm, Roydvale Pony Club, Feb 2024
Reasonably forward but not hot, Stormy can get a bit energetic at shows but settles with lunging or a good canter in the warm-up. She has a fantastic, honest work ethic. Tries very hard to please and loves to be told “Good girl!” Can have the rare spook but not dirty.
Impeccable bloodlines. Full sister to Windsor Royal Return & Windsor Englishe Love ("Possum", who I believe did pony grand prix showjumping). Would make a stellar broodmare.
Sensible and sane, loves cuddles, attention and bum rubs. Great for farrier; floats/vans fine. Unfazed by clippers, dogs, trains, and cars. Fine around sheep/cattle if they’re not charging her. Thinks she’s a princess; loves her rugs. Wants a shelter shed or indoor stable in storms.
Likes a paddock mate but ok alone. Gets very anxious if paddock mate is taken away without her; no problem whatsoever leaving paddock mate behind in paddock. Does not like friends leaving her at shows, and we thus think it’s best to take her to shows without friends.
Teeth just done April 2024. Always sound/healthy with us; happy to share 2022 pre-purchase exam, which she passed easily.
Available for viewing weekends only, or weekdays by arrangement. Prospective buyer can arrange a lesson on her at the riding centre we attend. Videos available.
We're looking for a 5* home for her where she'll get the love and attention she thrives on.
Rising 2yo silver bay purebred registered welsh mountain pony filly to mature around 11.1 hh. Lovely mover and nicely put together. Friendly filly, greets you in the paddock. Very confident in herself, has had one show outing which she handled really well. Good to wash, lead, tie, trim feet, float, rug and worm.
Best suited for an experienced adult handler to bring on. Would make a nice harness prospect or future broodmare for breeding silver purebred welshies. Viewing welcome, Masterton.
Super Dressage / Showing Pony ready and deserves his own rider.
By Maxwellton Woody Woodpecker and Out of Glenardon Valencia (by Glen Cree Victoree). 3/4 sibling to multi supreme mares Glenardon Zsa Zsa Gabor and Glenardon Drama Queen.
8yo 146.5cm, registered with Pony Breeders and Arab society. Still a Novie pony for next season. Has been quietly produced by breeder, all the basics are established, competed at unreg Level 1 & 2 dressage.
Has competed barefoot, good for farrier, good to float (will self load if 2nd on for fear he might miss out getting to go), good to paddock alone (has always been able to see something else) or with company (bottom of the pecking order with mine), good to rug, stable, yard at shows etc
Ridden by children 10yo and up but best suited to a 12-15yo as he is still learning. Thrives on being worked and loves going out and doing things. Been to PC, has jumped some small jumps but not an area we have focused on.
Available only due to lack of rider and Rocket deserves his own person. Currently in light work.
Can come with extensive waldrobe of rugs
Kiwi sunray is the ultimate school master for a confident rider to take up the grades. He will be best suited for junior rider, amateur rider. Ray has been a fabulous horse having competed in gp, young rider successfully throughout his career.
ray would be perfect for someone coming off ponies he is the ultimate confidence builder.
Stunning WBX 2yr old Palomino Mare.
This stunning girl has such a lovely nature first one to the fence to see you. She has been well handled. She is use to kids running around/jumping on trampoline, bikes, large machinery etc. Easy to wash, rug, handle. Has been floated and travels well. Good for the farrier and has her feet done every 6 weeks.
Has just come back from a weeks professional education. Has been long reined bridled with lunge roller etc. She has great expressive paces and will turn heads wherever she goes.
EMH 15/15:1 Unfortunately she just won’t grow tall enough for me and my daughter is a long way off needing this height so will be wasted in our paddock.
Registered with the golden horse society.
This is a lovely type of mare that is now ready to go out and pick what the rider would like to do.
Owner says sell to a person that wants their forever friend.(selling for a friend)
Nice big friendly mare that is always at the gate for you. Very easy to catch shoe and ride with heaps of time off. No dirt in her .
Flat work well established ready to go out and compete level 1 easily.
Learning to jump consistently and well balanced.
Really nice big saddle hunter type horse that doesn't ride big but feels super safe.
Arapito Kowhai needs no introduction to the showing and dressage world in the South Island. Known for his gorgeous looks, temperament and manners, Kow turns heads at whatever discipline he tries. He’s a 10yr old Welsh / Arab x standing at 137.5cm.
He has a huge cheeky personality and loves attention and making people laugh. He excels at riding through the forest or at the beach, going out to strange places for lessons/schooling, showing himself off in the saddle hunter ring or dancing around the dressage arena. We also jump him for fitness/variety. He has a lovely show hunter style but as he prefers to jump with boots on we haven’t pursued this area.
Some of his recent achievements include:
Land Rover Horse of the Year 24 - 6th in Under 138cm Saddle Hunter Pony of the Year Title class
Land Rover Horse of the Year 24 - 6th in Paced and Mannered Saddle Hunter Pony of the Year title class.
NZ Agricultural Show 23 (Christchurch A&P) - Supreme Paced and Mannered Pony.
NZ Agricultural Show 23 (Christchurch A&P) - Champion Saddle Hunter Pony Plus many other champion A&P titles and a lot of success in-hand with his old owner.
Dressage:
4th in the FEI World Dressage 2023 youth section
Champion elementary pony Syncroflex Festival of Future Stars 2023
Champion elementary pony in the South Island Dressage Champs 2023.
He recently travelled from Christchurch up to Taupo for the EvoEvents U25 Youth Festival and to Hastings for HOY and coped brilliantly with the trips and big competition environment. He is a regular competitor at the South Island Dressage Champs, Canterbury Dressage Champs and has attended the Marlborough Dressage Champs and Waimate Dressage Champs.
Kowhai is a sensitive, forward moving pony with a big personality. He is quite the clown and often makes us laugh with his antics!
We are looking for a 5* home for Kow - this is an absolute must. He would suit a young rider with a love of dressage and showing but will offer him plenty of variety and fun.
Ettington (Edward) - 8 year old (2015) bay TB gelding, approx 16.3hh. By Roc de Cambes (NZ) out of Animate (NZ).
Edward last raced in late 2020 before being turned out to let down. He then spent time with Tui Teka Better Horsemanship in the North Island before starting his sport horse career and responds well to natural horsemanship approaches.
Had a number of eventing starts in 2023 with his previous rider at 80cm and 95cm and jumps at this level with plenty of scope and ability to go higher, but is still reasonably green in this area. Since coming to us at the beginning of summer, he has been hacked extensively over different terrains which he enjoys, particularly riding in the lake, and he happily hacks alone or with company. We is also beginning to work nicely in a frame in his flatwork.
Ed is kind to handle on the ground and good to worm, vet, float, truck, etc. He does prefer to float with another horse, but is getting happier with practice. He happily paddocks with others or alone, as long as he can see other horses.
Our intention was for Edward to be a first hack for my teenage daughter to go eventing on after coming off ponies. However, as our rider is still reasonably novice we have found he is just not the right match at this point in time due to their combined inexperience. It would have been a definite yes for our rider in a few years and we would like to move Edward on now to a more experienced teenager or adult rider to make the most of what he has to offer.
