For Sale on Behalf
Asta is a smart young horse with good basics now ready to go forward with his career in whatever discipline his new rider wants.
We have done a bit of everything with Asta in the last 6 months- he has SJ to 1m (schooling 1.10m at home), RTR with placings at A&P shows, Show Hunter with placings, He has had one eventing start at twilight eventing 80cm with 70% in the dressage and stormed round the cross country. He is very brave, will jump anything and has loved the cross country schooling we have done with him.
We have hacked him including up hills and at the beach in small groups and I think he could be a great trekking or hunting horse with milage.
Very nice to ride on the flat with good buttons.
Asta has a great career ahead of him with a competent rider to continue his education- I think he would love a home where he gets to do a bit of everything, he thrives off variety.
Gorgeous Bellario rising three year old gelding. EMH 15.3hh - 16hh with an exceptional temperament who has received appropriate vet, feeding and farrier treatment since birth. Leads, ties, boxes and happily loads on a truck or float and travels really well. This boy was bred for dressage - however he has shown awesome ability, confidence and desire for jumping - frequently jumping out of his paddock when it suits him. I would happily have kept him and started him myself but due to my current competition horse being retired early, I need to sell this boy to fund my next competitive mount. He has such an amazing temperament and unflappable nature I think he could be perfect for an amateur or with his talent and breeding a competitive all round mount for the future.
Outstanding YEARLING FILLY estimated to mature about 15.2 hh.
Purpose bred to be a super all round fun horse. Suit harness, jumping, versatile performer.
Sire, John Brodie (14.2hh) is renown for leaving brilliant natural.jumpers and versatile horses and ponies.
Dam, The Blacklist (16.1 hh HC) is currently competing and earning herself quite a following as a regular show winner, winner of open intro dressage, second in her only 10km CTR. Has a big natural jump also. Very good mover and trainable easy mare which is why I bred this pinto foal.
The Diva has been fully cared for since birth, everything done correctly, handled well, leads, ties, loads easily on truck. Microchipped, vaccinated, regular farrier care and worming. Nothing has been overlooked in raising this lovely filly. Needs a sensible horse person who understands the need for boundaries, as she is very self confident and bold, which is why I think she'll make a superb competition horse and harness horses in time.
Only sadly selling as numbers must be kept under control in my small horse breeding hobby. The best one to let go as she is potentially the most versatile. Heaps more videos and photos available on request.
Ocean’s racing career ended in October 2023 and she was turned out until February 2024 where I then gradually brought her into work.
Ocean has basic flat work, and is starting to work nicely in a frame, progressing well with each ride. She has been schooled over poles and a few small jumps and has shown promise. She has a good head and is very quick to pick things up. Ocean has no dirt but being a green TB mare she does have a few quirks which I’m happy to discuss further with anyone seriously interested.
Ocean is good to float, truck, catch, worm. She can be a bit odd for the farrier but this is improving with time and patience. She currently has front shoes and is being hot shod. She does tend to kick out at other horses when being ridden in groups.
Ocean is only for sale due to me moving overseas. She will only be going to the very best home.
Videos available on request as well.
Possibility for her to come with her gear.
Stevie is a really neat mare who loves to jump and would be a cool addition to someones stable whether you were after a competitive mount or just a best friend type. I think she would be super to aim towards the TB jumping classes which has great prize money on offer. I originally rehomed Stevie off the track and she had plenty of variety while racing including trips to the beach etc. Since then she has done a bit of everything in her time away and has since settled back in here like she’d never left. We took her XC schooling her second ride back here and she happily cruised around with a 14yr old rider on board who had never ridden her before. Stevie doesn’t sound perfect in the wind but hasn’t been scoped so not sure what grade she is in the wind but she definitely isn’t perfect - shouldn’t effect her having fun out PC level eventing and jumping. She also doesn’t x-ray clean in her fetlocks but seems very sound and manageable with fetlock injections.
Graciey is a bold youngster who has a real can do attitude towards her new job. She has picked up the basics on the flat quickly and is incredibly brave to jump. Currently more brave than stylish but improving on the technique front with each session and I think as the jumps get bigger we will see a further improvement in style. She is a quality mover with three good paces and is a nice strong type who could also breed some cracking sport horse foals if you are looking for a nice breeding prospect. Graciey is a real power pack and likes having a job so isn’t going to suit someone wanting a plod but if a sporty mare with plenty of quality is your thing then she’s your girl. She has been nice to have around, a bit pushy on the ground to start but this has improved heaps as she has settled in. Good to truck, unsure if she has been floated. Currently barefoot and coping just fine like this but has been shod previously without issue.
Candy is a quality youngster who has taken to her ridden career like she’s been doing it for years and is a super fun and genuine sort to work with. She prefers getting out round the farm and exploring to schooling and I think a home that can offer her variety in her work is going to help her thrive. Candy is a super bold and clever jumper for her very limited experience in this area so far and I see her making a fantastic Age Group prospect in the jumping ring. She is straight forward enough I believe a Junior/Amatuer rider could produce her and I think she has plenty of scope to be stepping up the grades. Candy is easy to have about, trucks and floats, well behaved to deal with and a nice black canvas for someone to enjoy. Only available due to me cutting back my sport horse numbers and her being a nice saleable sort that is ready for someone else to take over and enjoy.
Skye is a quality mare who is proven in sport and in the broodmare paddock. She is Registered and DNA Verified. While Skye has competed up the grades in Eventing and Show Jumping and hasn’t had a lame day I would love to find her a long term home where she is either used for breeding or enjoyed under saddle out hacking, competing on the flat and maybe a small amount of jumping on the side but not as someones focus. A home where she is loved and adored is my main focus. She is a lovely sensible mare who has been part of the family for over 6yrs and has not shown any vices but she is still a high powered sport horse so isn’t going to suit a learner rider. I have 4 cracking foals from her and am only moving her on due to downsizing the breeding program and competition team. She is always welcome back here to retire but I feel she has to much to offer someone at this stage to be sat doing nothing.
148cm (Life Certificate) 10yo mare.
Asti is a once in a lifetime pony, every mothers dream and a serious competition mount!
She is the total package with the perfect combination of quality movement, temperament, trainability and reliability.
Beautifully put together, Asti is a standout mare with great conformation and a ‘look at me’ presence.
Exceptionally well schooled on the flat, Asti is competing at FEI pony and Advanced Medium level, training the Advanced movements.
Her lateral work is excellent and she is very capable of both collected and extended work. Her uphill canter is a highlight, and there is so much potential for Asti to continue progressing through the grades. She is very competitive, even against the hacks, holding four NZ National Titles.
Although jumping was not her riders focus, Asti has proven to be a talented and fun all rounder. Jump schooling up to 1.05m SJ and XC and excelling in the hunter ring, with multiple wins and placings across all disciplines.
She holds multiple championships in the show ring in both Saddle Hunter and Working hunter, you name the discipline and Asti will do it !!
Asti is the best friend all parents want for their child. She is safe, fun and able to adapt to her riders ability. She is as close as you can get to a unicorn, being a true genuine type but with the quality and class to excel competitively.
Asti has been in the same family since she was 5 and her rider 11. She has been exceptionally produced by her young rider, and the combination as grown up together. Now with her rider moving off ponies, Asti is ready to teach everything she knows to another lucky young rider.
For a family looking for a top tier pony who can do it all and take their child to the top in any chosen discipline, Asti is a one in a million opportunity. She is currently FEI and ESNZ registered so is ready to go!
This is an incredibly hard sale for her owners so will only be sold to the best of homes!

Been at RDA since 03/04/2019 (Just over 5 years)
Dallas came to Hutt Valley RDA as a youngster and we bought her in to the program after about three months. Initially Dallas did well however she found it hard to cope with the environment so we decided to give her twelve months off. We had one of our exercise riders take her to shows and just generally mucked around on her to give her time to mature. After the twelve months we reintroduced her back in to the program and she did well for12 months but then became agitated and displaying distress again. One of our exercise riders – shown in the picture above – was very keen on Dallas and asked if she could lease to buy. We agreed on this however due to personal circumstances this did not eventuate. We then turned Dallas out for another 3-4 months as she was growing – she went from 14.1 to 15-1 in this time. Dallas has now been bought back in to work and is ready to go on the market.
Dallas is a very cool horse and we will be sad to see her go however she has let us know that the RDA environment is not suited for her. She is a 1:1 horse and gets very attached to people. She is a kind and gentle soul and the busyness of RDA is not to her liking.
She has lovely paces and a good jump on her. Whatever discipline you decide on Dallas will give 100%. Dallas will not be sold sight unseen.
