Kingslea Escapade (aka Richie)
Richie is a 13.3hh (approx.) 9yo registered Welsh part bred gelding by Adlou Postie
I have had Richie since he was a weanling and have carefully produced him to where he is today, he has a lot of potential that should be put to good use.
He is a full brother to both Kingslea Chat Up and Kingslea High Jinx (who I previously owned since a 3yr in 2014 and sold in 2020) Both of these ponies have qualified and competed at Horse of the year in different disciplines.
I started carefully producing Richie as a rising 4yo during covid and from there on he has just gotten better and better. He has not had a lot of competition experience with school study, Thoroughbred Racing commitments and working getting in the way, but has proven from his 4 competition outings that he will make some lucky kid more than happy in the competition arena. I have only competed him in showjumping up to 70cm and at home schooling 80cm+ so far, but he will be schooling over bigger tracks the more I produce him before being sold.
His first outing we took him to Gisborne in 2022 in the practice ring not putting a foot wrong. For his 2 nd he competed at the interschools at St Peters in 2022 and just had a learning curve but still jumped great and showed how quick he learns from the first day to the second. His 3 rd show we were at the first Pegasus Cup at Takapoto in 2023 where he jumped 4 rounds all clear and placing in all classes, getting two 2nds and two 4ths. His most recent show was at Woodhill in 2024 where we did one round for 4 faults (rider error) but still placing 2nd.
As I am now 18 and no longer able to compete ponies, his outings will be limited to practice days and schooling at various facilities in the Waikato. In the meantime, Richie is in work and will be working his way up the heights slowly to keep him confident so he can use all his potential correctly. I will also be taking him out and schooling him around cross country and practice show hunter courses at home to expand his versatility.
This is a sad sale as I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Richie and his amazing cheeky personality, but as I can no longer compete ponies, it is time he finds his new little rider to have fun with. He will only be sold to a 5 star home. He will be most suited to a confident pony rider who wants a pony to keep producing up the heights in whatever discipline they desire and enjoy placing at every show they go to.
He is available to try any time.

Woody, 10yo, TB by redwood. Aprox 16hh
Woody flew through his intake vetting
X-rays were taken of his back and are clean.
Teeth done 30th July, with no issues noted.
Since having woody he’s been nothing but a character. Very easy to have around, not fussed on his paddock mates.
Great for brushing, shoeing etc.
Loves life in the slow lane, definitely NOT a hot horse, wouldn’t pick this guy for you 2* eventing dreams. (He’ll take you around 65/80 no issues though!)
Woody is still learning his flat work, it’s in no way polished, left lead can some days be hard to locate.
Woody enjoys hacking, we set the teenagers free around the farm on him and they went for about an hour, doing who knows what but came back raving about how great he was. The speeding caravan that went past also wasn’t an issue for woody. Does not kick/bite other horses.
Quite a capable jumper, is very unfazed with which ever distance he gets and just pops on over. Can take a look at a fence but this very rare, absolutely flew over all x country type jumps.
Floating is okay, he will go on alone but is far happier with a friend on the float. Will truck alone, but does love that support buddy. Which is pretty standard for off the track horses.
Woody can be cold backed, in the most casual non violent way possible. Genuinely just rounds his back and scuttles along.
Since being with us we have found when he’s being ridden regularly it goes away entirely, but a wee lunge if you’re worried and he’s absolutely fine. Legitimately less then 2 mins, just to warm up his back muscles.
(He has been cold backed twice in his time with us, so not an every ride thing!) but we want to be as honest as we can be!
Woody is a wonderful horse, ready to go.
We think he would be suitable for a teens first horse to produce further. I see him loving a PC type life or honestly hunting? He’ll do it all.
Needs an experienced coach/parent to help guide as he is still an ottb, however due to his quiet nature you don’t need to be a rocket scientist.
Must have other horses at home.
All enquires to Ardlussa Equine (photos videos there too.)
One of our racehorses has finished up her racing days and is looking for a home as a BROODMARE before she could possibly look at returning to ridden work.
5yr old 15.3hh TB mare by Contributer. She is a lovely strong type of mare that I think will leave cracking types in the broodmare paddock. She is a fairly easy mare to have around, can pull the odd grumpy face or lift a hind leg when doing a back strap but nothing major, happy paddocked in her own paddock or equally good in a mob. Trucks and floats well.
Reason for retirement: Olive has had two preps with us and both times when we have got up to consistent galloping and fast work she has gone unsound on her right fore. She has had nerve blocks and x-rays and she has bone bruising in her lower cannon bone where it joins her fetlock. We gave her a spell and she came 100% but went off again when the fast work increased. Was seen by the vet last week and we have decided there is no point trying to carry on with her as a race horse. The recommendation was 12-18 months in the paddock and then should return to sport horse level work happily but also a nice type to be bred from and it is NOT a genetic problem that will pass on to foals.
Have added a handful of pics of her under saddle and standing shots with a nice summer coat but also included ones taken today that show her in her winter state (note she is currently race fit). To ride she has been a nice genuine sort who has done plenty of farm, beach, forest hacking as well as a bit of jumping but she is not able to be ridden until she has had a lengthy spell and I am not rehoming her with any guarantees of her suitability to return to ridden work in the future. Her best option at this stage is to be a broodmare
Cruise is a super fun chap that LOVES to jump and enjoys getting out and about. He has done heaps of hacking, a bit of CTR and since joining us has done a fair bit of jumping. He is a forward moving horse although we have always found him to have breaks he just likes to get on with the job and have some fun.
I could see him making an awesome fun PC mount for someone to just get out and enjoy. Equally could be a good option for an adult rider who doesn't mind a bit of up and go!
Crunchy is a genuine young mare that is taking to her new career like a duck to water. She is working kindly in all of her paces, happily popping round wee courses of jumps, has hacked alone and in company and also had a XC schooling outing so far.
She is still learning her new trade so needs someone capable of producing a young horse but she is a lovely blank canvas for someone to get rolling with!
Kookie is a kind chap that really wants to please but can find life a bit overwhelming at times. He would do best in an experienced environment that doesn't mind putting time into lots of low key outings with him or equally someone that just wants to ride at home!
He has three nice paces and a tidy jump, he's hacked round the farm both on his own and in company (happier on his own), good to jump on and go with inconsistent work and has shown no dirt but did get quite overwhelmed on a XC schooling outing and got quite hot and bouncy.
He is currently barefoot and coping well. Up to date with dentist, had a Chiro and Massage visit in the last couple of weeks and good to go, is a horse that benefits from regular body work due to being a bit tense at times. Floats and Trucks well and in an environment where he is comfortable he is a lovely ride!
FUTURE TREKKER/CAVALCADE MOUNT
BIG strong mare eye guess about 16hh, plenty of growing and filling out left to do, 4 years (as of Aug 1st) . Will mature to be a big strong type.
Spadie raced x4, lacked the speed to continue on with.
Spadie is green broken to ride, going well under her saddle. Only suitable for a confident, educated rider to continue her education.
Shes met all of her milestones here for a fresh to saddle horse, stands to be mounted, walks & trots. Can do a slow trot and lengthen. Does sometimes pace on her way upto trot but seem to prefer trotting over pacing.
Loves to walk around on a long rein.
Not a spooky type, more of an eyes half closed kinda girl. Definitely not hot/forward moving.
Good to catch, tie up, shod currently trainer says she’s good with her shoes going on. Nice shape to her feet, will be a great candidate for barefoot.
Easy to have around. A no hassle type. Paddocks with others; not mareish or top of the pecking order. Spadie is in great condition & doesn’t require loads of feed to maintain condition currently on grass and hay.
Hasn’t shown any dirt, buck, bolt, bite or rear etc.
Nice type, someone will have a great hack in time.
Obviously very green. Not suited to anyone nervous. Appreciates a kind hand. Walks straight on the float.
JWS DAKODA
9yo 16hh Tuahu Clydie X Fresian.
We have owned Koda since he was 5 when he came to me as a sale on behalf and never left. He’s been an extremely special part of our family, being bought for my mum while she battled cancer and was her returning to riding horse.
At 5, he had wisdom beyond his years, the horse you’d put anyone on, canter bareback down the beach, swim, go anywhere, tackle obstacles etc. There was nothing you didn’t feel safe conquering with him and hence why we bought him.
Since then, he’s played Mr Reliable for mum well. Pull out of the paddock with months off and be the exact same. And in amongst that I’d borrow him, if one of my own were lame. He’s an easy keeper, great doer, barefoot and never been lame. Floats great. Beach, and river swum, farm and hill hacked, the same at shows or at home. Loves being in work and having a job but very equally, loves attention and being just a snuggle bug paddock mate.
He’s dabbled in everything from obstacles/ working equitation, champions and reserves on the flat, eventing (65 competitively but xc schooled 95), show jumped up to 85cm, dressaged with mum level 0&1 & now training very impressively Elementary with shoulder in, travers, and mediums being taught easily & more recently show huntered for placings. His rhythm and jump is divine and so lovely and steady. I really think he’d excel in show hunter and I said at 5yo that I’d be surprised if he didn’t go to HOY in this field. But he equally could make it there for working hunters, dressage or saddle hunters. Stunning type with good bone. Still green in the jumping aspect due to it not being the riders focus however he thoroughly enjoys it, sometimes needs support from his rider when it’s something he hasn’t seen before but there is nothing nasty anout this horse!! So genuine and sweet 🤍
The most exceptional brain, really in tune with his rider and so easy to teach. If unsure, he politely says so and if you give him a moment to process, he’s away and won’t think twice about it again. On the flat he tries incredibly hard and picks up things very quickly.
He had a run in with a truck early on and since then is wary of loud engines or trailers. We can lead him up behind the motorbike and tractor go past daily plus fine with cars on the road, but louder vehicles can make him tense. He is absolutely fine on quieter roads.
We’d love him to go to a first hack, young adult type. Although he looked after mum super, he is more woah than go but has quite an engine for a nervous or anxious rider and because he is so intune with his rider we’d prefer he went to someone confident or relaxed ☺️
5* home only. This is an incredibly hard sale of a much loved member of our family. No time wasters.
We would love him to go to a home that can be absolutely vouched for otherwise we won’t sell.
